A tall, burly peony with a sweet side it shows through its wonderfully perfumed blooms. Fully double red blooms sit atop stems that top out at 4 feet giving it real presence early-season in a flower border. Because the blooms aren't overly large, it generally performs well without support. This 1943 introduction by Auten has the reputation of performing well in the south. (Auten, 1943)
